Anyways, my story is going to be about a male man, name TBD, from Vermont. He's a UPS driver. It's Christmas week - more specifically Christmas Eve - and he has to leave to do a day of shipments after a huge fight with his wife. Their marriage is on the rocks. I want the story to be a sort of...meditation/reflection that the driver has about his family. He's driving in a blizzard - maybe he gets lost, or drives off the road and goes missing for a few days? Trapped in his truck, regretting the fight, reminiscing about his life, missing his family, etc.
The direction after this can go many different ways. I might split the POV and tell the story from the wife's eyes while hes missing? Since this is late, I'm not sure if y'all will be checking the site, but any feedback/suggestions would be great.

I think the UPS driver idea is awesome. What will this huge fight about? It has to be a big enough fight for him to be reflecting on his family and life. Something has to make him have a sudden realization. I think it will be really creative if you change the POV to the wife, but this will be tricky. I like the idea!
ReplyDeleteI second everything Doug has said, including liking the idea. Make sure you are specific about your background. Christmas does tend to bring up unresolved feelings about family and hopes for the future. I also think the dual POV could be interesting, but what could happen to let them come to an understanding about their marraige and/or lives? Is it the same event, or different? Is it the same realization? If not, what could that mean for them...
